Jimmie Johnson continues post season dominance

VICTORY LANE

1 Jimmie Johnson picks up his 5th win of the season, and 4th at California. The three time consecutive champion is now the points leader once again by 12 over Mark Martin. It’s Jimmie’s 16th Chase Race win of his career.

OTHER STORIES ON THE DAY

-Big mistake Tony Stewart was caught speeding on pit road and went a lap down, he recovers to finish 5th after some luck

-Kyle Busch who is battling the flu, was relieved by David Gilliland and the 18 machine finished 24th

-Denny Hamlin got spun while leading on the restart he came down in front of Juan Pablo Montoya, the 11 finished 37th Denny called it “a rookie mistake on his part”

-Kurt Busch hit the wall sending Kasey Kahne and Greg Biffle flying through the grass with 12 to go

-A violent and massive wreck coming with 6 laps to go involving Dale Earnhardt Jr., Kasey Kahne, Elliott Sadler, Marcos Ambrose, Brian Vickers, Reed Sorenson, AJ Allmendinger, Jeff Burton

WEEKEND NOTES

-Talladega will have even smaller holes in their restrictor plates in a couple of weeks, this in response to the horrific Carl Edwards crash there in April.

-Tom Logano’s NASCAR Hard Card Credential was pulled after he confronted Greg Biffle on pit road after Saturday’s Nationwide Series race. Talk about a “Helicopter Parent”
