AI Contestant visits DEI
Last year's American Idol contestant Bo Bice paid a visit to Dale Earnhardt Incorporated this week. He got to tour the facility and even sit in Dale Jr's primary car for Martinsville, Bo said "This is a tight fit, How long do they have to sit in here?"

MOORESVILLE, NC – A well-known “American Idol” star paid a visit to Dale Earnhardt, Inc. on Tuesday afternoon.
Bo Bice and his band, Sugarland Money, stopped in to check out where their favorite race team, DEI, builds the cars for their favorite drivers. They were en route to a gig in Spartanburg, SC on Wednesday night.
Having just left Columbia, SC earlier in the day with Charlotte radio interviews on tap for Wednesday morning, Bice and his band realized DEI in Mooresville was a doable stop on the way. They pulled up in their tour bus and took a behind-the-scenes view of our facility.
Joining in the tour was Taylor Earnhardt, herself. She and Bice had their picture taken by a No. 8 car with a large photo of her dad, Dale, in the background. She offered interesting insights about the buildings and different aspects of DEI.
“This is so cool just to be able to come to DEI,” Bice said. “Getting behind the walls of this shop is great. I can’t believe how clean and big the buildings and shops are here. I went to Talladega last year and briefly met Dale Jr.
“To come here today is just awesome. When you look at all the different shops and race cars the teams work on you realize there is a lot more involved than what you see on Sunday.
“Meeting Taylor and having here join us for the tour made it even better. Dale is a legend and this place is made up of so much history. It was great having her tell us the background of what was once where the different shops are today.”
During his tour, Bice was easily recognized by most of the employees. He gladly stopped, talked to everyone, posed for pictures and signed autographs. Even some fans who were outside the large glass doors of the Interior Showroom recognized Bice and got his attention.
One even had his CD on them and slid it through the glass for him to sign. He asked her name, signed it and thanked her. While looking over the collection of various race cars in the Interior Showroom, many of the band members revealed they were avid NASCAR fans.
“Oh man, I have the die-cast of that car over there,” one band member said, pointing to the No. 8 Budweiser Chevrolet. “I have one of that car; and that one over there, too. I have about 40 die cast, in all. I love NASCAR and wish we could get to more races.”
During his tour, Bice and the band stopped into the No. 8 Budweiser shop. There, Brian Cram (Shop Foreman) talked to them in more depth about race cars, how much they weigh and how many cars the team works on at one time.
He even put Bice in the primary car for the upcoming Martinsville Speedway.
“This is a tight fit,” Bice said while sitting in the cockpit. “How long do they have to sit in here? Four hours? I would go crazy, but it would be fun to drive one of these.”

Childress needs Cingular replacement
Since Cingular Wireless will soon change their name back to AT&T, Richard Childress Racing has been informed by NASCAR that they'll need to find a new sponsor. This stems from Nextel's agreement with NASCAR and not allowing other wireless carriers in the sport unless they were already there. Cingular/AT&T would be allowed to sponsor a Busch Series car.

He has two wins including the Daytona 500, a second at Vegas, and a 6th in Atlanta plus has led the points the entire time....not bad.

Vote now, NASCAR's popular driver
NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver Voting Begins
http://www.mostpopulardriver.com opens this weekend

MINNEAPOLIS (March 19, 2006) – Internet voting for the NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver begins this weekend at www.mostpopulardriver.com.
Under the Chex® banner for the second year, the Most Popular Driver Award has become the largest fan-based award in motorsports. Since General Mills started sponsoring the award in 2002 more than 13.4 million votes have been cast. Dale Earnhardt Jr. won the award the past three years.
This year more than 40 Nextel Cup Series drivers are eligible for the esteemed NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver Award, which is administered by the National Motorsports Press Association (NMPA). It has been awarded annually since 1956 and is one of the oldest awards in racing. What started as a simple poll of the drivers has grown to include NASCAR members and has now become a completely fan-driven award.
Today, fans determine who receives the most popular driver award by voting on the General Mills’ Web site, www.mostpopulardriver.com. Fans may vote on the site once each day beginning this weekend. Voting ends at11:59 a.m. CST, Monday, November 20, 2006.
“Chex® cereal has been a family favorite for more than 60 years and we have been overwhelmed with the growth of the Most Popular Driver Award,” said Trevor Bynum, Chex Marketing Manager. “To see the number of fans that have logged onto the Web site and voted is truly amazing and General Mills is proud to have Chex® cereal and Chex® Party Mix associated with such a successful campaign. Every December we look forward to making the award presentation in New York City and we can’t wait to see who takes top honors following the 2006 NASCAR season.”
By winning his third consecutive award, Earnhardt Jr. became one of only four drivers to win the award at least three times, joining Bill Elliott, Richard Petty and Bobby Allison. Elliott’s 16 titles top all drivers, followed by Petty, who won nine times.
“It was such an honor to win the NASCAR NMPA Chex Most Popular Driver award for the third year in a row,” said Dale Earnhardt Jr. “I have to say that I have some of the greatest fans in the sport and their support means so much to me and my team. Our sport is growing so fast and we are reaching so many new fans and that is really exciting to me. Chex and the NMPA have done a great job of supporting this award, and it has been an honor to be a part of it.”
“This award is about the fans and it honors their relationship with the drivers,” said Kenny Bruce, NMPA President and veteran motorsports journalist. “Having a family-oriented product like Chex® be a part of the Most Popular Driver Award demonstrates their commitment to families and racing.”
Chex® cereals have been on breakfast tables for more than 60 years, and offer wholesome great taste, calcium, vitamins and an enjoyable crunch, while at the same time remaining low in fat and cholesterol-free. From the original Wheat Chex®, the lineup has grown to include different varieties to suit different tastes. Wheat Chex®, Corn Chex®, Rice Chex® and Multi-Bran Chex® offer the simple, delicious taste of oven-toasted grains. Honey Nut Chex® and Frosted Chex® add a sweet but not too sweet flavor the whole family will enjoy.
