Truex wins wreck filled Busch race
Martin Truex Jr.'s #8 Busch car looked as if it did battle, however so did everyone else's car for the day at 'Dega. Most of the 43 cars were involved in some sort of wreck or another.

No more Brickyard 400 at Indy
The Brickyard 400 at Indy is no more, oh the racing will still be there, but it's now called the Allstate 400. Indianapolis Motorspeedway and the insurance company have a multi-year agreement for the new race name.

Hmiel does Busch/Truck double
Shane Hmiel is planning to run both the Busch and Truck Series races this weekend. Normally this is no big deal, but this weekend, Busch is in Talladega, and the Trucks are at Gateway near St. Louis.

Gordon to use "old" plate car this weekend
Since Jeff Gordon's best restrictor plate car is locked up at Daytona USA from winning the 500, the team is bringing out an older car from their fleet which won at Talladega last year. This weekend it will carry a DuPont/Pepsi/Star Wars color scheme on it. Jeff has won 3 of the last 4 plate races.

Several teams were on hand this week for a special test for Goodyear Tires. Jeff Gordon, Matt Kenseth, and Ryan Newman checked out the new softer tires, along with Indy's newly paved racing surface.

Sauter's Busch Team fined more $$$
The National Stock Car Racing Commission heard the appeal for Johnny Sauters #1 Busch car penalties, and the original penalties that NASCAR handed out will stand. In addition, the commission has slapped an additional $25k fine to owner James Finch. All of this stems from an unapproved carburetor at Texas.

Biffle needs more speed
As if going fast on the racetrack isn't enough, 3rd in points Greg Biffle will be high above the skies of Alabama today. He'll take a ride in an F-16 fighter jet with the 187th Fighter Wing of the Alabama Air National Guard. Last year Greg drove a battle tank, and said "This is another once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and I can't wait."

NASCAR has made Readers Digest magazine's "America's 100 Best" list this year. It's listed under Florida since that's where NASCAR's headquarters is, and is titled "Best Legal Rush" It's in the May issue.

Johnson is Speed's Driver of the quarter
Jimmie Johnson was named as Speed Channel's "Driver of the Quarter" over the IRL's Dan Wheldon, Greg Biffle and Jeff Gordon. Jimmie, until this past weekend had a string of 13 straight top 10 finishes, including 5 wins.
