Week of 7/31/05
Race Recap | BUSCH SERIES | TRUEX WINS With all three national NASCAR series in Indianapolis this weekend, it was only fitting that on Saturday night the NASCAR Busch Series take the spotlight with a green-white-checkered finish. With Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer and Reed Sorenson running one, two and three, it was Truex who pulled away for his sixth win of the season. Bowyer and Sorenson finished two and three respectively and continued to trail Truex in the battle for the NASCAR Busch Series championship. Bowyer is 86 points behind Truex and Sorenson trails by 104. Sorenson, who won his second pole of the season earlier in the day, dominated early and then turned the lead over to Bowyer on lap 51. Lap 52 saw the caution and then the red flag come out for rain. After an hour delay, the race resumed with Bowyer in the lead. Truex gained the lead on lap 111 and never looked back. Jason Keller and David Stremme rounded out the top five. The series returns to action next weekend on the Watkins Glen road course, the first time since 2000 that the series has run at “The Glen.” August 6, 2005
