Jimmie Johnson holds off a bunch of hard charging cars to take the Bud Shootout win. Greg Biffle led the most laps in his #16 Ford with 44. This is Hendrick Motorsports 5th Shootout win.

There's a new Craven
Ricky is a dad for the third time after the birth of Lydia Cathleen Craven at 8:47pm on Thursday the 10th. “She is absolutely beautiful,” Craven said. “Everybody should get to come home from the hospital on Friday so I can spend a few days with her before I leave for Daytona next week. This is the best start to SpeedWeeks I’ve ever had.”

Rusty will continue to be featured as part of Visa's Ultimate NASCAR Experience campaign through the 2005 season. Carl Edwards will replace Kurt Busch in the commercials as well.

Actor McConaughey 500 Grand Marshall
Matthew McConaughey has been named the Grand Marshall for the Daytona 500. He'll give the command for drivers to start their engines, and ride in the pace car to bring the field to the green flag. Matthew stars in a new movie called Sahara coming soon to a theater near you.

Fernandez to drive for Hendrick
Adrian Fernandez a Mexico City native and open wheel racer will take the wheel of the #5 Hendrick Motorsports Busch car for the race south of the boarder on March 5th. Fernandez is making his NASCAR debut in this race.

Corvette to pace Daytona 500
The 6th generation Chevrolet Corvette will pace the Daytona 500 this year, and Dale Earnhardt Jr. helped unveil the car on Tuesday mornings national TV show "Fox and Friends." The pace car is almost identical to the one you can buy, check out these impressive specs: 6.0-liter V-8 with 400 horsepower, top speed 186mph, and a 0-60 in 4.2 seconds.

Bud Shootout format
The Bud Shootout on Saturday night under the lights at Daytona is a quick sprint of 70 laps. However the race is split up into two segments of 20 and then 50 laps. In that last part, teams will need to pit at some point since they can only go 37 -38 laps on a tank of fuel. Strategy will play a key roll especially if there is no cautions. The poll winners from last year, plus previous Shootout winners will take the green flag at 8pm Eastern on Saturday.

Jarrett looks for shootout win #4
Dale Jarrett is the defending champion of this weekends Budweiser Shootout, and he hopes to make it win #4 in the pre-season event. Dale has the most wins in the event than any other active driver, and just by starting the race on Saturday he'll pass Dale Earnhardt in shootout winnings which is over $600 thousand.

Brian Vickers is returning to the Busch Series for 4 races this year. He'll be driving the #57 Hendrick Motorsports Chevrolet with their new sponsor on the car Ore-Ida and its Extra Crispy French-fry brand. They will also become a major associate sponsor on his #25 Cup car as well.

Two Jr.'s on QVC
Coming up on February 11th, be sure to check out Dale Earnhardt Jr., and Martin Truex Jr. will be on QVC's For Race Fans Only program from 8-10pm Eastern. Plenty of NASCAR stuff to buy including Dale Jr. and Truex apparel, collectibles and die-cast cars, plus Daytona 500 products.

Jarrett wins $10k for charity
Dale Jarrett won the pre-Superbowl Charity golf event and picked up $10,000 for the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation. He put a drive onto the green on the 17th hole to win. Other stars that played included Elliott Sadler, Rusty Wallace, John Smoltz, Jerome Bettis, Fred Funk and more.

Daytona has huge payday
The biggest purse in the history of stock car racing is what they are calling $17.6 million dollars. So if there was any doubt as to what is the biggest race of the year, the 47th annual Daytona 500 on Sunday February 20th is it. The winner will grab a minimum of $1.4 million, second gets just over a million, and 3rd takes home over $730 thousand. Even last place has a nice payday, just to start the race and finish 43rd will get $219 thousand.

President meets Champion
Busch meets Bush. One was the 2004 Nextel Cup Champion, the other is the President of the United States. Kurt, owner Jack Roush, and team president Geoff Smith had a chance to visit the Oval Office at the White House yesterday. They presented The President with an autographed helmet.

Driver Picks for the Superbowl


-Mark Martin doesn't know much about football, but like's Philly Steak Sandwiches so he's for the Eagles.

-Greg Biffle is going for the Eagles also, for no particular reason.

-Matt Kenseth is going for the defending Champion Patriots.

-Carl Edwards thinks the Eagles will win after talking with his brother.

-Ricky Craven is obviously going for New England since that's where he calls home.

Testing Crashes
A few crashes to report during testing. In Las Vegas Carl Edwards ran through some oil left down by David Reutimann's blown engine and hit the wall. John Andretti also lost a battle with the wall. At California Speedway, teams are having to deal with very windy conditions but it was a blown tire that sent Kasey Kahne into the wall with his #9 Dodge. Both drivers are okay.
